Transit Timelines and Case Practice
4 min read
Learning objectives
- ✦Reproduce a transit timeline using dates, degrees, house system, orbs, and windows
- ✦Combine aspects, houses, angles, and fast and slow cycles to check two fictional teaching cases
- ✦Express conclusions as symbolic themes, observation dates, and practical limits rather than predictions
“I found five transits but do not know which belong on a timeline.” The challenge is often missing settings and raw data, leaving the work impossible to reproduce later.
You have learned orbs and windows, houses and angles, and multiple-transit synthesis. Now combine them into a workflow and check two fictional teaching cases. Names, questions, and life stories are invented.
Six steps for a repeatable timeline
For a request such as “Look at next year,” proceed in order:
- Fix settings: record zodiac, house system, timezone, birth-time source, and orbs. Lower house and angular weights if time is uncertain.
- Copy longitudes: record natal and transit degrees using an ephemeris or chart tool.
- Mark windows: record boundaries and all exact dates. Retrograde repeats depend on loop coverage.
- Compare weights: prioritize exactness, personal planets, and reliable angles rather than equating slowest with most important.
- Add fast observation dates: these aid recording rather than ignite events.
- Find resonance and counterexamples: write “Prioritize observing ___, with a concentrated window around ___; decisions still require checking ___.”
Case one: a career-change question at twenty-nine
Xiaoya’s fictional birth data are March 11, 1995, 18:00, Taipei. Use the tropical zodiac, whole sign houses, and Taipei timezone (UTC+8). Slow-planet aspects to natal planets or angles, and Mars conjunctions to angles, use a 1-degree orb, tighter than astro.how’s 2-degree default to shorten windows. Natal Saturn in Pisces is 15°40′, Ascendant 21°05′ Virgo, and Midheaven 20°58′ Gemini. Birth time is treated as reliable, and Gemini is the tenth whole-sign house.
Dates follow Taipei’s calendar; degrees are rounded to the nearest minute. Different ephemerides or sampling times may differ by several minutes or a calendar day.
| Transit | 1-degree window | Exact dates / house period |
|---|---|---|
| Uranus at 21°05′ Taurus trine Ascendant | 2023/05/30–07/10, 10/19–12/08, 2024/03/16–04/26 | 2023/06/18, 11/13, 2024/04/07 |
| Saturn conjunct natal Saturn at 15°40′ Pisces | 2024/04/11–05/01, 08/31–09/26, 2025/01/03–01/25 | 2024/04/20, 09/13, 2025/01/14 |
| Jupiter enters Gemini, the tenth whole-sign house | Aspect orb does not apply | 2024/05/26–2025/06/10 |
| Mars conjunct Midheaven at 20°58′ Gemini | Approximately 2024/08/20–08/23 | 2024/08/21 |
Saturn’s three exact hits result from the natal degree lying within this loop, rather than a general rule. The slow transits prioritize direction, responsibility, and career; Mars offers only a short recording point. This does not answer whether to resign. Compare vacancies, salary, savings buffers, contracts, and support systems.
Use the six steps to build a timeline for a demonstration chart:
Case two: checking relationship information
Azhe’s fictional birth data are March 21, 1989, 23:30, Kaohsiung, with the same settings. Natal Venus in Pisces is 27°21′, Ascendant 13°26′ Sagittarius, and Gemini the seventh whole-sign house. The question is: “Is a relationship begun in November 2024 ready for joint investment?”
| Transit | 1-degree window | Exact dates / house period |
|---|---|---|
| Neptune conjunct natal Venus at 27°21′ Pisces | 2023/04/19–09/16, 2024/02/19–04/13, 2024/09/27–2025/02/13 | 2023/05/27, 08/06, 2024/03/17, 11/09, 2025/01/05 |
| Jupiter enters Gemini, the seventh whole-sign house | Aspect orb does not apply | 2024/05/26–2025/06/10 |
| Venus at 27°21′ Sagittarius square natal Venus | Approximately 2024/11/09–11/10 | 2024/11/09 |
Neptune makes five exact contacts here, demonstrating variable retrograde counts. The timeline can identify relationship, boundary, and value themes but cannot decide a joint investment. Check claims against consistent behavior, specify contributions and exit terms, seek legal or financial review, and agree on a reassessment date. Neither postpone solely because of transits nor use seventh-house Jupiter to endorse risk.
Return both cases’ slow transits to the ephemeris: Xiaoya’s Saturn loop crosses natal Saturn three times; Azhe’s Neptune enters and leaves the band across two years with five hits. Different station and turning positions produce different counts:
A small patch of sky; left is east. The band shows the 1° orb on either side
Each sample uses the same sidereal time, keeping the Ascendant at 0° Aries
- Aspect
- Outside orb
- Apparent motion
- Direct (moving east)
- Saturn position
- Pisces 8°05′
- Distance from exact
- 7.6°
- 1Exact on 2024-04-21
- 2Exact on 2024-09-12
- 3Exact on 2025-01-15
A timeline must allow refutation
A sound timeline retains settings, raw degrees, dates, orbs, and counterexamples so others can inspect its reasoning. Turning observation days into destiny dates or resonance into inevitable turning points undermines its usefulness.
Transits describe symbolic themes and observation points rather than verdicts. Health, finance, law, and major commitments still require evidence and professional support. The person involved chooses the path.
Next: sampling one year separately
You now have a repeatable transit workflow.
The next course is return charts: a solar return chart is cast when the Sun returns to the same longitude as your natal Sun, rather than a fixed clock time on your calendar birthday. Transits follow a continuous process; returns organize yearly themes. Both retain limits and choice. See the course overview for the full learning path.
