Venus quincunx Neptune: enjoyment and long-term hope are half the difference
4 min read
Everything was fine, but there was always one piece in my heart that I couldn't keep up with - when Venus and Neptune became quincunx (also translated as five-twelfths in writing), Venus's pleasure and Neptune's desire were 150 degrees apart. Both sets of frequencies were on, and the plugs were not compatible.

Venus and Neptune become the core of quincunx: one sentence version
Quincunx does not give friction or flow, but a continuous half-square dislocation: pleasure belongs to pleasure, and long-term hope belongs to long-term hope. Each one is established, but together it is just a little bit different. Your homework is not to choose sides, but to think of a translation for these two sets of frequencies - to translate vague desires into choices you can make now, rather than waiting for them to fall into place.
What do the two planets want?
What Venus wants is immediate value: pleasure, aesthetics, worth getting along with and spending money. What Neptune wants is to dissolve concreteness: the kind of longing that cannot be measured in size. 150 degrees allows two things to neither interfere with nor support each other - live a comfortable life, and want to be quiet on the other side; follow the want, and the comfort of reality will seep in to remind you. You have to build your own bridge.
The feeling of minor aspect: three specific scenes
- The more full the vacation schedule is, the more absent there is in my heart; on the day when nothing is scheduled, that space is replaced by a faint emptiness.
- Halfway through a hobby you like, you suddenly can’t remember the meaning attached to it; you’ve been doing something meaningful for a long time, and you feel like you haven’t rewarded yourself enough.
- People who praise you often say that your life is “very good.” This sentence is a comfort and a reminder to you - there is still half a square between your good life and the territory you really want.
Immature version and mature version
The immature version shuts down alternately between two sets of frequencies: a period of intense enjoyment to compensate for emptiness, and a period of ascetic pursuit of ideals. Neither is a real choice. What the mature version does is small-scale calibration - leaving a small amount of time for the unclear direction (writing, listening, reading, walking, etc.), and also leaving a small amount of time for pure pleasure; no declaration is needed for fine-tuning, just checking the half-frame difference every once in a while.
Orb and priority: 150 degrees, natal convention within 0 degrees
The natal chart of astro.how sets the orb of this angle to 0 degrees, which is not marked on the chart; some astrologers also give a narrow orb of two or three degrees. First confirm which set you are using, and then compare the actual degrees of Venus and Neptune. It is ranked as the second line after the main aspect: the other five distances are read first, and then this half space is used to explain the remaining irregularities.
Cheat sheet: Six aspects of Venus and Neptune
Apart from half a square, the remaining five squares are collected on the same table.
| aspect | angle and natalorb | one sentence |
|---|---|---|
| conjunction | Within 0 degrees, 7 degrees | Like to add the desired filter |
| opposition | 180 degrees, within 7 degrees | Desire and possession are at each end |
| trine | 120 degrees, within 6 degrees | Beauty and desire are undefended |
| square | 90 degrees, within 6 degrees | Reality and desire cross the line |
| sextile | 60 degrees, within 4 degrees | Want to wait for a starting move |
| quincunx (this page) | 150 degrees, not marked | Enjoyment is half a step away from long view |
Misalignment is a clue to calibration: The myth of hard aspect reexamines the intuition that “minor aspect is not important”. aspect courses takes you back to read the six distances in the entire disk. The index of all combinations of gold and sea is in Planet aspect index.
