Aspects at a Glance
1 min read
An aspect describes the angular relationship between two planets and how they blend, pull against each other, flow, or require ongoing adjustment. A quincunx is a minor aspect of 150 degrees, sometimes called an inconjunct; astro.how consistently uses “quincunx.” Natal orbs in this table are astro.how defaults, also used for solar returns. Synastry orbs are narrower: 3° (2° for a sextile); transits are narrower still: 2° (1° for a sextile). Orbs are common upper limits, not absolute cutoffs; interpretation also depends on planetary significance, chart type, and context.

- Foundations and combinations: Aspects overview, Orbs, planet-aspect matrix
- Hard aspects: Oppositions and squares often create friction, which can also become fuel for adjustment, action, and growth.
- Soft aspects: Trines and sextiles tend to flow more easily. If left unused, their advantages can be overlooked precisely because they feel natural.
