Mars opposite Jupiter: There’s always someone on the other end shouting a big price

4 min read

As soon as the target at hand is set, someone at the other end raises the question - Mars opposition Jupiter. Let the action of Mars and the expansion of Jupiter occupy one end of the market and take turns bidding you.

The natal chart indicates: Mars and Jupiter are 180 degrees apart, and the aspect line passes through the center of the market, bringing the two ends of the move and the big bid facing each other.Schematic, not a real chart

The core of Mars opposition Jupiter: one sentence version

Opposition is a 180-degree confrontation: the ruler of action and the ruler of magnification each hold one part, and there is always one part on the opposite side. Every plan you invest in, you will often encounter a bigger version that comes back to invite you to upgrade - the question is not which end is right, but when do you take it all in and when do you hold on to the position in front of you.

What each planet wants

What Mars wants is to take action: to push forward what is at hand, as far as it can handle. What Jupiter wants is meaning and vision: is the size in front of you worth expanding and what can you see if it is expanded? When the two sides look at each other, Mars will complain that the questions are idle, and Jupiter will complain that you are only focusing on the present - your daily life is caught between these two urgings.

The feeling of hard aspect: three specific scenes

  1. The plan here has just been finalized, and the partner or team raises the final goal by two levels, and you have to decide whether to accept it or not.
  2. Negotiating terms often creates a tug-of-war: you bid based on cost, and the other party bids based on imagination. The two proposals must be close to each other before the case can be completed.
  3. On the same night, you want to be solid with your hands, and then you want to turn it into a bigger bet, and your sleep is eaten up by this back and forth.

Immature and mature expressions

The immature version regards the opponent as resistance: every move is to reject a larger proposal, and all the energy is spent on defense. The mature version allows both ends to take turns - the paragraphs that should be defended are full, and the questions are opened only when it is time to zoom in; the opposite side does not represent the enemy, it is just the upper limit of your willingness to invest, and it is always hung at a position where you can verify it.

Orb and priority: 180 degrees, natal convention within 7 degrees

The natal opposition orb is 7 degrees, and the actual angle between the two planets is directly compared when checking. When the degree reaches six or seven degrees, first read how Mars and Jupiter fall in the signs to set the tone, and then talk about the tension between each other.

The day of opposition comes down to the division of labor: The Myth of Hard Aspect can help you loosen the presumption that “hard aspect will suffer” first. The general list of the six combinations of Fire and Wood is in Aspect Pairing Index; if you want to familiarize yourself with the opposite ends with the whole chart, there are corresponding paragraphs in Aspects Course.
